On January 15th, 1996, my father’s doctor said, “We will bring out the big guns and try to knock this cancer out. It is an aggressive lymphoma, but lymphomas are susceptible to chemotherapy.” After one treatment, my father almost died due to the chemotherapy’s toxic effects. We frequently call them “side effects”, but their effects can be quite direct. One month later the same doctor said, “We look at your Dad’s situation as terminal.” Six weeks later, on March 29th, 1996, he was gone. It was a sad and difficult time. In the wake of my father’s passing, I wondered why some people afflicted with terminal cancer “beat the odds” and lived many years past their so-called expiration dates. What distinguished them from the masses?
My curiosity impelled me to engage in deep research. In my investigation, I discovered PubMed.gov, a vast database governed by the National Institute of Health, comprised of more than 25 million citations regarding biomedical literature, including national and global studies. In addition to this extensive resource, I read everything I could get my hands on, including books, reports and peer-reviewed papers by scientists, doctors and researchers concerning novel evidence-based therapies, healing agents and treatments, that seemed to engender real medical benefit to people who were not responding to conventional cancer treatments.
I always kept in mind that disingenuous purveyors of fraudulent-miracle elixirs pervade the cancer marketplace and that these despicable charlatans frequently attempt to take advantage of vulnerable and fearful people, who may succumb to their worthless “snake oil pitch”. Notwithstanding this reality, I also recognized that science and modern medicine is indebted to many doctors and scientists who were ridiculed and scorned at one time in history for encouraging seemingly useless therapies, and then vindicated many years later after their therapies were validated and proven to be breakthrough discoveries.
My personal backstory
In 2001, I experienced a personal health scare—rapidly increasing liver enzymes far beyond the normal range. Various diagnostic tests indicated a rapidly worsening non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. After several diagnostic tests, my doctor wanted to perform a “biopsy on my liver”— very scary words. Instead, I postponed the biopsy and engaged in research concerning natural ways to mitigate or cure my liver problem. I implemented a major transformation in my nutritional habits, comprised mostly of plant-based food and freshly made veggie juices, including the elimination of most animal foods, sugar and confectionary junk. Due to this shift, over the course of several months, a biopsy was now deemed unnecessary, confirmed by normal blood tests. I wondered if strict compliance with healthy nutritional habits could seriously change one’s biochemistry, enhance the immune system, and directly impact the disease process, especially cancer.
After meeting and interviewing hundreds of people who have beaten back terminal cancer prognoses with integrative and alternative therapies, and being privileged to engage in deep discussions and collaboration with highly reputable, renowned cancer doctors and scientists, combined with my research and study about the efficacy of beneficial “out of the box” cancer-fighting regimens, I felt a calling to inform people afflicted with cancer of “other medically-beneficial options”, which can extend lives, save lives and enhance the quality of many cancer patient’s lives.
Finally, it is my passion and deepest hope that – Hope Never Dies – which was born from my father’s passing, will guide people to conjure up the will and determination to discover the necessary resources to help them find peace, enduring health and a greater quality of life.
